Now the government of Pakistan is taking some major steps to facilitate the eligible families across Pakistan by providing Monthly Kafalat assistance and more benefits for their households.

Recently the CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah has announced 200000 Solar Units for the BISP Beneficiaries from all over the sindh and it is one of the major milestones that will be achieved by the province to overcome the high usage of electricity.

Sindh To Provide 2 Lakh Solar Families – Update
The provincial government has started providing Solar Home Systems (SHS) to 200,000 low-income homes, according to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has directed him to acquire an additional 300,000 solar units for distribution.
Solar Plants To provide electricity at a rate of Rs 9.80 per unit
This project aims to aid families still suffering from the disastrous floods of 2022 by providing sustainable and reasonably priced electricity. He declared, “We are putting in 270 MW of solar power plants, which will generate electricity at a rate of Rs 9.80 per unit.“

The chief minister recapped the challenges the Sindh government has encountered in advancing renewable energy and expanding the Thar coal project. He claimed that Sindh’s attempts to find sustainable energy solutions were hampered by limitations placed on renewable energy sources like wind and solar energy when the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) started a solar energy project. To address the province’s energy needs, the Sindh government responded by deciding to build imported coal power plants.
BISP Eligible Families To Receive Free Solar Panels
According to Provincial Minister of Energy Nasir Shah, SHS distribution is being distributed equitably throughout Sindh’s 30 districts, leveraging the experience of reputable NGOs such as HANDS, SRSO, and SAFCO to guarantee effective last-mile delivery. In order to give priority to the most vulnerable, beneficiaries were carefully chosen from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) database, focusing on households with a PMT score between 21 and 50.
The chief minister praised Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and his team, saying, “With the help of the World Bank and other development partners, Sindh is determined to be a leader in this transformation as the world moves towards clean energy.”

By July 2025, the Sindh government hopes to have distributed all 200,000 SHS kits, with a weekly goal of 400 kits per district. The government’s urgency in providing real benefits to underserved populations is reflected in this ambitious timeframe.
