High-Level World Bank Delegation At BISP Office

On Wednesday, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) One Window Facilitation Center in this city hosted a high-level World Bank team led by Ousmane Dione, Regional Vice President for MENAAP (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan).

The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the all-inclusive services and assistance offered to BISP beneficiaries in one location.

The BISP Chairperson, Senator Rubina Khalid; Secretary, Amer Ali Ahmed; and Additional Secretary, Dr. Asmat Nawaz, extended a hearty welcome to the delegation.

Key World Bank representatives on the visiting team included Bolormaa Amgaabazar, Country Director for WB Pakistan; Gailius Draugelis, Manager of Operations; Lobna Hadji, Special Assistant to the Regional Vice President; Fadia M. Saadah, Regional Practice Director MENAAP; and Almud Weitz, Regional Practice Director MENAAP.

In her welcoming remarks, Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid conveyed her sincere appreciation to the World Bank for its ongoing relationship and underlined the importance of fortifying it even further.

According to her, BISP is the realization of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s vision, which was realized while she was living in exile in Dubai.

Senator Khalid emphasized the revolutionary effects of BISP, especially the inclusion of millions of underprivileged women in Pakistan’s national database and their empowerment as a result of the necessary CNIC requirement.

She also provided information on a new pilot initiative that will be launched in Pakistan’s largest cities and would make it easier for BISP beneficiaries to obtain bank accounts.

Amer Ali Ahmed, the secretary of BISP, gave the group a summary of the organization’s main projects and recently launched programs like Benazir Hunarmand Programe, highlighting its efforts to promote financial inclusion by encouraging beneficiaries to use digital banking services.
